Virginia Governor Announces More COVID-19 Restrictions

March 23rd, Virginia Governor Northam announced further COVID-19 restrictions that will affect Virginia businesses and residents:

  • All Virginia schools will remain closed through the end of the academic year.
  • Virginia recreational businesses are to close (bowing alleys, racetracks, fitness centers, etc.).
  • Personal service businesses (hair/nail salons, tanning salons, etc.) must close, unless they can limit on premises gatherings to ten (10) people or less.
  • All non-essential retail businesses must close their “brick and mortar” presence if they cannot operate with fewer than ten (10) patrons in the store at one time and increase sanitizing procedures.
  • Liquor stores are exempted and may remain open.
  • Construction industry businesses can remain open.
  • Restaurants can remain open, but only for delivery or pickup.
  • Social gatherings of ten (10) people or more are banned.
  • Essential businesses such as grocery stores, gas stations, pharmacies, and banks will remain open, but they must practice “social distancing” and increase surface sanitizing practices.

The Governor expects these restrictions to be in effect for at least the next thirty (30) days.
