New York Pay Transparency Law Takes Effect November 1, 2022

New York City employers with at least four employees must disclose a good faith minimum and maximum salary range (or hourly wage) in job advertisements for any job, promotion, or transfer opportunity that can or will be performed in New York City in whole or in part (e.g., remote/hybrid position).

The term employees is very broad and includes owners, independent contractors, part-time employees, paid interns, and domestic workers.

Commission-only positions are in compliance if the advertisement states that compensation will be based on commission.

Non-compliance is considered a discriminatory practice.
